Ongoing Activities

In Canada - the Elizabeth Shuchat-Schwartz Lectureship was set up in October 2000. Based in Congregation Shaar Hashomayim in Montreal, the annual lectureship sponsors a female scholar of noted influence in Jewish education and society who addresses a public forum every October. The lectureship has already hosted nine great speakers from Israel and North America and we hope to host many more in years to come.
In Israel - the Foundation sponsors Project Chaverim  -  the Jewish Identity Program for New immigrant students on Israeli campuses, helping to integrate student Olim from the former Soviet Union, Eastern and Western Europe, Ethiopia and North and South America into Israeli society and culture. We presently have six branches. In addition, we sponsor a credited course in Basic Judaism at the preparatory program for new imigrants at the Hebrew University’s Rothberg school and the Open Beit Midrash program for Israeli students of varying backgrounds at Bar-Ilan’s Center for Basic jewish Studies.
